Crockett Mocks Wheelchair-Bound Abbott as "DEI" Hire
The legacy she is leaving behind is one ugly look after another.
What Happened - Texas Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett called paralyzed Gov. Greg Abbott a “DEI” hire during a Wednesday broadcast, saying the tree that left him wheelchair-bound at 26 made him “uniquely-abled” and part of the “DEI class.”
Why It Matters - It is the second time Crockett has taken heat for mocking Abbott’s disability, following her 2025 “Governor Hot Wheels” remark, which she also denied was about his condition.
Bottom Line - Abbott responded with an AI image of himself as a wheelchair-bound superhero. Crockett, who just lost her Senate primary, is on her way out. The legacy she is leaving behind is one ugly look after another.
Jasmine Crockett has made a habit of going after Greg Abbott’s wheelchair. She did it again Wednesday, and the backlash was immediate.
The outgoing Texas Democratic congresswoman appeared on her “Black Lady Courtroom” broadcast and decided to use the governor’s paralysis as a punchline. “He is DEI, yes, because he is uniquely-abled, or actually he ain’t abled, child,” Crockett said in the video posted to her X account.
Abbott has been wheelchair-bound since age 26, when a tree fell on him during a jog and left him partially paralyzed. Crockett claimed he only became wealthy because legislation allowed him to sue over the accident, framing his disability as a legal and political qualification rather than a life-altering injury.
The internet was not impressed.
“I only mocked a paraplegic and suddenly people have a problem with me,” Fox News contributor Joe Concha quipped on X. Others called the remarks “low IQ” while still others responded with simple disbelief. “Uh. What,” one account posted.
Abbott’s office directed Fox News Digital to the governor’s own X response, which said it all without saying much: he posted an AI-generated image of himself as a superhero in his wheelchair alongside the words “Uniquely abled.”
This is not Crockett’s first rodeo on this particular topic. In 2025 she called Abbott “Governor Hot Wheels” during a campaign-style rant, then claimed with a straight face she was talking about his policies, not his condition. “At no point did I mention or allude to his condition,” she insisted at the time, without offering an apology.
Wednesday’s remarks made that defense a lot harder to maintain.
Crockett ran for Senate this year and lost the Democratic primary in March. She did not seek re-election to her House seat either. Her time in Congress ends in January 2027. Based on her recent track record, she appears determined to go out the same way she came in.

She did not make a degrading or mocking comment. She merely pointed out the irony of this regime’s hypocrisy toward individuals with different abilities. Because by trump and republicans rhetoric, all individuals with a disability are a DEI hire therefore, not actually qualified (again according to their own words.). And it is hilarious that trump has LITERALLY PHYSICALLY MOCKED individuals with disabilities ON STAGE and MAGA HAS CHEERED him!
Hypocrites of the lowest level.
I wonder what her family, particularly her mother thinks about the low class remarks and antics she so ably performs. Bless her heart as they say in the South. Governor Abbott is one of the best governors in this nation. I wish he would run in Kommiefornia!
